Victoria Hernandez

My journey began in Spain in 2013, where I worked with individuals affected by long-term mental health conditions and their families. This experience deepened my understanding of how these challenges shape family dynamics, individual identity, and self-esteem, reinforcing my commitment to a systemic approach that considers relationships within broader social and cultural contexts.

Supporting Families in Scotland

Based in Scotland since 2015, I now support individuals, children, young people, and families—including those on the CAMHS waiting list—facing mental health challenges, relationship conflicts, and life transitions. I also work with neurodivergent individuals and families, fostering mutual understanding and creating affirming routines.

The Benefits of Systemic Therapy

Systemic therapy enhances communication, addresses behavioural concerns in children and teenagers, supports families through anxiety and depression, and manages parenting differences. It offers a reflective space to explore challenges that may be difficult to discuss due to everyday responsibilities or fear of escalation.

Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, explore how past experiences and social contexts influence current interactions, and work toward a shared understanding of each person’s needs. Using creative methods when needed, I ensure every voice is heard in a warm, culturally sensitive space.

Family therapy is typically brief, lasting 6–8 sessions, though one session can sometimes lead to meaningful change. Sessions are flexible and can include supportive people such as family members, partners, or friends.
